Have you ever read a story that had no introduction, or it was so unclear? This is why English teachers enforce that you take your time in introductions. Why are introductions important? The main reason why introductions are important is because without one, the reader will have no clear what they are about to waste their time on. You cannot expect readers to continue reading what you wrote if you either have a boring beginning or Do not briefly explain what they are about to read. “Consist of the words “In this article, I will tell you about such and such, and convince you why you should do such and such.” This heavy-handed approach will turn most readers off.” (The importance of introduction, Consent-Content). The whole point of writing an introduction is have the reading wondering that they begin to get curious and want to read your story. “Introductions tell your audience the theme of your essay. If an essay begins with the talking points and no explanation about what ties them together, it will be more difficult for the reader to sass out the crux of the matter. This may lead to frustration, confusion, or worse— people may quit reading the essay altogether.” (Quora, Ditrie Bowie). When reading a book for school, usually stories have no introductions and we begin to feel frustrated, in that case we’re obligated to read it but in a case where the author’s book is not an obligation to read if his book has no introduction. No one would continue reading it or will tell others to go read it as well. “need to decide which information is the most relevant and interesting and they must put that information in the introduction to keep the reader focused and engaged. Too much information can scare the reader and the reader might not want to read such a myriad of confusing jumble.” (Why Introduction is So Important in Dissertation Writing, Blogger). Too much information in an introduction usually leads to people knowing basically what is going to happen through out the whole story or essay. For example, MY final paper is on Women pirates and how they are better than male pirates by nature. Women were honestly scarier than male were and even were crueler and harsher than they were or will ever be. Anne bonny is known to be number one for female pirates. She is above Chen I sao whom she would behead everyone who did not listen to her or disobeyed her laws. Sadie the goat carried around her ear in a necklace after someone bit it off.

Going to school is probably the most boring thing ever especially when so many people in your class know about what your teacher is talking about and you don’t. In language arts, we always talked about pirates and I’ve never watched a pirate movie in my life. But this Wednesday was different. We began speaking about female pirates and the topic became so interesting because well I’m a girl. All I kept thinking about how hard it must have been to be a girl back then because you weren’t able to express yourself like we can now.

Later that day, we went home, and I ended up telling my husband about what I learned today. We did everything we had to and to sleep we went. I ended up dreaming of a ghost that looked like the one in SpongeBob that was a pirate. But I was thrown off by it because it felt so real, I finally zapped out of it and saw my dog and my husband sleeping and I was standing up. I tried pinching myself and it hurt. I was frightened. I proceeded to panic, and he yelled saying “you need to calm down, I only came because I saw you so interested in a topic you know what I mean”

He told me to follow him, I didn’t think twice and there in my living room was a time machine like in the movie future. He proceeded to tell me if I wanted to see Anne Bonny. I was confused and jumped in. I was in Ireland and saw a boy just about my age, he seemed familiar. Too familiar for me to forget but I did.

Zoom to older years, I see the boy again but much older. HE was walking around with another male who seem again oddly too familiar.  Men started yelling at me insulting me, saying things like “women on a boat are bad luck” telling me to get off. I ran out but since in which I felt I was in a dream, I just closed my eyes and wished to look like a boy so I can get on and so that happened. I saw the two males again. They seemed oddly attached to each other. They walked off and I followed and heard one of them say how he is actually a girl named Mary Reed and the other gasped and said I’m a female too, and that her name is Anne Bonny.

I remembered in class. I jumped out of nowhere scaring them. I told them my secret and we all agreed on keeping it low. Time kept going and they soon found out that we were women on a ship and wanted to punish them. I talked to both before they came for them and told them to think smart. Think of something that can get them out of this. They both announced they were pregnant, and they couldn’t do anything to them. Mary ended up dying in jail but Anne had her baby and returned to the sea life.

Henry Morgan was born in 1635. His early life remains a mystery as well as some information of his parents. He was highly recognized and remembered because of all the battles he won. Henry Morgan was a remarkable leader and a fearful conqueror. Sir Henry own his own plantation, he owned a large amount of slaves and was married to his wife, Mary Elizabeth. He was also known for having the strongest troops and for his prosperity. Morgan was a Welsh privateer. He did not consider himself as a buccaneer nor a pirate as he felt like that was an insult for his position.

His attack against the coast of Yucatan peninsula and rich town, Granada in Central America bought him great wealth as well as a great reputation. Making this the start of everything big after. He was raised on a farm but different stories on why he moved away from where he was raised. In Buccaneers and Pirates, it states how he was born in a farm, but he never liked the "farm life", he always wanted to leave. He did as a young man, he found out a ship was leaving and since he had no money, he sold himself to an agent for three years meaning he'd have to work on plantations.

In the book, Under the black, it never mentions how he grew up on farm or his background. In that story, they did mention how he had two uncles who were higher end soldiers whom he saw as his inspiration. He joined the English army and built his reputation off of that. One of his most noble accomplishment would be his attack towards panama. From this attack, he gained a bigger reputation as well as wealth. He learned his military achievements from his life experiments as well as those who went before him. For that reason, the Spanish lost over hundreds of men during the fight unlike the privateers who only lost less than 20 men.

After the battle against panama, he returned home but as soon as he arrived, he was arrested for invading panama because the English and Spanish had a peace treaty, but he was still treated as a hero. He was even elected to be the lieutenant governor of Jamaica because the current governor of the time, was not doing a good job.   He served on the Assembly of Jamaica until 1683. He ended up dying of excessive drinking causing cirrhosis of the liver damage. Sir Henry Morgan remained popular since he died and even was labeled on a ram bottle. Once word went around about henry’s death, they ordered a state funeral, and laid his body at the King’s house.

They can pay his respects, they even allowed privateers to pay their respects without being afraid of being arrested.  In June 1692, an earthquake strike causing two-third of the town even the part of the city in which Henry Morgan was buried fall into the sea, they never recovered his body.

I imagine looking for gold must have been hard for pirates when there was so many trying to look for it to and would kill to get what they want. In this case we can use Francis Drake, he would do anything for his treasure for example, Nombre de Dios lies in the corner of a bay on the Isthmus of Panama. Around 1570s was when it was known as the principal treasure port on the Spanish Main, which curves around the Southern rim of the Caribbean Sea. Francis Drake disguised as a Spanish merchant to inspect the harbor. During his inspection, he noticed King's treasure-house.
Around July 1572, he returned with two small ships Pasco and Swam including 73 men. He ended up having to spit his men into two. They ended up shooting him in the leg but overall, he was able to become a rich man laying his hands on fifteen tons of ingots and 100000 in gold coins.

The port became really important to Francis Drake because it provided him with a lot of goods.

Another port that he did invade would be a place called “a house of crosses”, where they found no gold, but they did find a house full of rich merchandise of various kinds.

I don’t think it was a major port for them, but it did benefit him in some way. He went to a port called cacafuego in which he hit jackpot; it took his crew six days to take all the treasure onto the ship. He then returned to England to meet with the Queen and She ended up spitting it with herself, him and his crew whom he would separate and divide.

Majority of the movies now and days use characters that in real life are the worst human being ever in other words, myths. They make up things about a certain person or thing and make the complete opposite of it. If in real life, the character is really nice, in movies they’ll jump and make them really mean. For example, pirates. Pirates have so many myths behind them like how they act towards people, how they normally act, how they dress and such. Even the ones we think are too good to be true end up coming out to be true.
In the book, Under The black flag, the author names multiple myths. For example, walking the plank like how they show in majority of the movies now and days. Pirates did not like wasting their time in such thing so they’d just kill them immediately no twist to it. In movies, the pirates would bury their treasure so that no one would try to sell them but that in fact is a myth because in the book, it states how the pirates would actually wear all their treasure if they could.
We see them as a romance character or find them humorous when in fact, they were cruel criminals.  Pirates cut out a heart and ate it yet we still find them as a figure it’s not. They even nailed a man’s feet with large nails onto the floor and then continued to beat him till he threw up blood. “romantic” right? Pirates didn’t try to make anyone fall in love with them, if they like, they steal like they did with Miss. Parker. Parrots, they are seen on the shoulders of a pirate in every movie, play, etc. But do you really think they will take their time to take care of one with love?

Usually when you think of pirates, the first thing to pop up is Pirates of the Caribbean. The famous Johnny Depp. People usually see pirates as mean, smelly, cruel men. Just as Captain Hook in Peter pan and many more. Johnny Depp playing as Jack sorrow is seen as a funny, weird and everything but mean. Even if majority of the pirates are labeled as mean and such, there is many who wished to be a pirate growing up.
People like the author of Buccaneers and pirates, Frank R. Stockton; he wished on being a pirate growing. He stated how he only wanted to do so because he wanted the independence of life in general. Ignoring the fact that pirates are criminals and always have someone coming for them. Knowing I am going to have someone always trying to kill me and even my own men can't block it forever is the scary part.
Mr. Stockton wanted to take from the rich and giving to the poor, doesn't everyone? Till the gold gets in their head and only want it for themselves. That's off topic though. Disney made pirates seem like they all had a heart at the end of the movie or even during. They made it seem as it was the life any would want and get everything easy. I doubt if Disney hosted them as how they really were in real life that children would wish to be a pirate growing up.
Children love being the hero in the story like Buzz light, Spider-man, batman and such, it's rare to find a child actually wanted to be the villain whom is hated by everyone. Jack sorrow is also another specific reason why children would want to be a pirate if in his moves, it's more funny and cool than what they really intended to aim at.

There is so many off things about pirates that we did not really pay attention to in the beginning because we simply see it as fiction and just for entertainment. We don't see the pirates in the Caribbean as criminals even though we see them steal, kill, as well as  harm others. "We never met pirates yet we know exactly what they look like", Cordingly, David. Under the Black Flag. New York: The Random house publishing group, 1996. Yet in every movie, we all dress them the exact same. Another thing is majority of the pirates in movies are all super mean to others or simply cruel.
Real pirates did not need big "ships" like in the pirates of the Caribbean because the last thing they wanted was to be identified and harder to escape from. Real pirates are elected by their pirates crew which I highly believe that in pirates of the Caribbean, they do not. As stated online on Greek dad, "pirates only fought as hard as they had to", they always tried to avoid fights and just get their prize. If Jack from the Caribbean was actually a captain. his own crew would dump him out because he fought with every chance he could. The whole "arrr" is not what pirates actually would say, just something directors began. Women are too weak to be pirates in a realistic form, it is rare to find a female pirate.
Men are more risk takers but they know they won't last for long because of what they put themselves into. So considering because honest, why would a female do that? The black flag with the skull and bones were something that real pirates did indeed use. Like in the Caribbean, pirates did not walk the plank. There is not actual evidence if so.
