Majority of the movies now and days use characters that in
real life are the worst human being ever in other words, myths. They make up
things about a certain person or thing and make the complete opposite of it. If
in real life, the character is really nice, in movies they’ll jump and make
them really mean. For example, pirates. Pirates have so many myths behind them
like how they act towards people, how they normally act, how they dress and
such. Even the ones we think are too good to be true end up coming out to be
true.
In the
book, Under The black flag, the
author names multiple myths. For example, walking the plank like how they show
in majority of the movies now and days. Pirates did not like wasting their time
in such thing so they’d just kill them immediately no twist to it. In movies, the
pirates would bury their treasure so that no one would try to sell them but
that in fact is a myth because in the book, it states how the pirates would
actually wear all their treasure if they could.
We see
them as a romance character or find them humorous when in fact, they were cruel
criminals. Pirates cut out a heart and
ate it yet we still find them as a figure it’s not. They even nailed a man’s
feet with large nails onto the floor and then continued to beat him till he
threw up blood. “romantic” right? Pirates didn’t try to make anyone fall in
love with them, if they like, they steal like they did with Miss. Parker.
Parrots, they are seen on the shoulders of a pirate in every movie, play, etc.
But do you really think they will take their time to take care of one with
love?
